This is part six in our Pega Community Hackathon profile series. In this series we profile 2021 Hackathon participants and ask them about their process for creating top-performing applications.
Not only is Pega fortunate enough to receive Community Hackathon submissions from partners and clients around the world, dozens of current students and recent graduates of our Pega University Program participated in the 2021 edition of our Hackathon as well!
Of the many outstanding submissions from these student teams, we presented the Top Student award to a dynamic duo from Rajalakshmi Engineering College in India for their “Career Path” application. Career Path is a platform that gives education seekers a personalized experience based on their educational background and career interests to help them make informed decisions about their future goals.
“College students often experience great confusion in choosing whether to go for a job or to pursue advanced degrees in higher education,” said Gokul P from the Career Path team. “That’s why we wanted to build a platform exclusively for students, which helps them identify the right career after graduating from university.”
As relative newcomers to Pega, the most difficult challenge that the Career Path team encountered was getting up to speed on full-stack development techniques so that they could take advantage of Pega Web Mashup in order to embed a Pega application directly within the website they had launched for Career Path users. The team also implemented a Chatbot to offer students answers to their career questions in real time.
“The entire process was challenging, but we found that the key to success is to be confident in your ideas and do the best that you can to augment those ideas with the help of Pega technologies,” mentioned Harshini Mangaleshkar, the second member of Career Path.
“The Hackathon was an awesome learning experience for us and we’re looking forward to helping students navigate their future career opportunities.”
