Blueprint Onboarding & AI Test Authoring and Automation: DevOps at Speed

On September 17, 2026, Pega hosted a live session  -  Accelerate DevOps with Blueprint Onboarding & AI-Driven Test Authoring & Automation - as part of the Pega as-a-Service Webinar Series. The panel brought together Tihomir Petrovic (Technical Solution Director, PSA Competency Center for DevOps), Madhuri Vasa (Product Manager, Deployment Manager & DevOps experiences), Goutham Mandadi (Senior Principal Software Engineer, GenAI test automation), and Sachin Vellanki (Product Owner, Automated Testing). Together they showed how Pega GenAI™ and Pega Autopilot™ are reshaping quality assurance for Constellation applications, and how Blueprint-designed apps now flow automatically into CI/CD pipelines through Deployment Manager. Missed it live? You can watch the full recording here.

From Blueprint to Pipeline in Minutes
Blueprint already accelerates the design phase of an application - now Deployment Manager automates the second half of the SDLC too. Blueprint-designed apps are automatically onboarded with versioned merge and deployment pipelines, pre-aligned with Blueprint delivery methodology, right out of the box. In a live demo, the team imported a "Benefit Me" application from Blueprint and watched Deployment Manager generate validated pipelines with quality gates already configured.

AI-Assisted Test Authoring at Speed
Starting with release '26, an AI Assistant reads a case's lifecycle, views, and data model to automatically generate Business Actions and Application Tests for entire case types - or a whole application - expressed as Gherkin/Cucumber scenarios. Goutham demonstrated this live with a single prompt, "generate application test for my home loan case types," which produced multiple realistic test scenarios for a banking app, including a loan rejection due to income.

Integrated API and UI Test Generation
The platform doesn't stop at one layer: it simultaneously produces API-level test steps (backed by DX APIs) and Playwright-powered UI automation scripts, both written in human-readable Cucumber syntax. That means technical and business stakeholders alike can review and understand the same test suite.

Seamless Integration into Deployment Manager Pipelines
Testing tasks are now native quality gates inside Deployment Manager. Teams can package and deploy tests separately from the application artifact, configure pipeline stages to trigger automated execution, and set global testing gates that every release vehicle must clear. Each run captures audited evidence - configurable screenshots, videos, and trace files - to speed up debugging.

Automated Execution Across Route-to-Live Environments
Tests run consistently across Development, Staging, and Production-candidate environments, catching regressions early. The demo walked through the Deployment History view, where teams can download detailed test evidence folders, and also showed a downloaded Playwright suite executed locally via npm run test.

What the Audience Wanted to Know
A few themes stood out in the live Q&A: native automated execution is currently exclusive to Pega Cloud via Deployment Manager as a service; testing gates today require a 100% pass rate, though configurable thresholds (e.g., 97%) are on the roadmap; AI generation currently focuses on the case lifecycle and doesn't yet cover custom components or landing pages without manual updates; and when screens or flows change in a branch, the AI Assistant can read those changes and update existing tests automatically.
