SSO: Using pxSessionTimer with logoff timer

SA-10104

Summary

The requirement is to configure idle timeouts to log the user off the system. CPM and PRPC-specific logoff activities are input in to the Data-Admin-AuthService timeout activity field.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

Use a logoff activity in the Data-Admin-AuthService timeout activity field.

Root Cause

A software use or operation error
The application developer used a logoff activity in the Data-Admin-AuthService Timeout Activity field to implement logging a user off of PRPC when a timeout occurs.
This approach is not the best practice.

Resolution

The best way to implement logging a user off of PRPC when a timeout occurs is to use the pxSessionTimer with the logoff timer.
See SA-10027 (https://pdn.pega.com/support-articles/pxsessiontimer-logoff-timer-does-not-display-expected) for details on implementing the SessionTimer with a logoff timer.
