Memory leak occurs with each interaction wrap in Pega 7.4

Summary



In the Internet Explorer and Chrome browsers, memory leak occurs with each interaction and performance degrades.
In the Chrome browser, wrapping each interaction leaks almost 50 MB of memory.
In the Internet Explorer browser, memory consumption reaches 1 GB and performance degrades.

The requirement is to port HFix-43212 for Pega 7.4.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Start memory profiling in the Internet Explorer browser.
  2. Launching Designer Studio > Interaction Portal. Click Snapshot.
  3. Open an interaction.
  4. Process the interaction and wrap it.
  5. Close the interaction.
  6. Take another snapshot.


Root Cause



A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.
The issue occurred due to legacy code JavaScript leaking Document Object Model (DOM) nodes.



Resolution



Apply HFix-46792.
