Apache Kafka connection stops the session

SA-48095

Summary

Unable to access Apache Kafka data when running the KafkaDataSet to "IP ADDRESS":9092 topic 'buffer'. As a result, a white page displays and the session stops working.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a dataset based on the Apache Kafka connection.
  2. Run the dataset. The windows freeze and the session stops working.

Root Cause

This is a defect in the Apache Kafka client library used by Pega.
The client library retrieved the hostname of the Apache Kafka server through the connection with the IP address and connected with the hostname. If the hostname is not resolved (for example, DNS has been configured), the session stops working.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change for connectivity to work: Configure the Apache Kafka connection using a hostname.
