Attaching file more than 2 MB takes huge time

Summary



Attaching file size more than 2 MB takes huge time.

In Claims application attaching 2 MB file takes close to 80 sec. Attaching 10 MB file hangs the system for ever. Same attachment in other application loads instantaneously.


Error Messages



For 2 MB files it is taking significant time. System hangs for ever for attachment more than 10 MB in size.

Steps to Reproduce



Attach a 10 MB file.

System hangs. Production users are not able to attach big file which they were used to do in PRPC 6.2.


Root Cause



A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment:

As per the installation guide (https://pdn.pega.com/documents/prpc-715-installation-guide-websphere-oracle) the value for the JVM argument Xgcpolicy should be either gencon or optavgpause.

Resolution



Perform the following local-change:

As per the PRPC installation guide (https://pdn.pega.com/documents/prpc-715-installation-guide-websphere-oracle), for JVM argument Xgcpolicy either gencon or optavgpause should be used as a value.

​Choice should be made on nature of objects. For long lived objects optavgpause can be used as a value, whereas for high performance and short lived objects gencon should be used.
