Close button crashes Internet Explorer

Summary



When the close button is clicked in CPM Recent Service Cases gadget, the Internet Explorer crashes, indicating a long running script.
This problem happens only in Temporary Work Object cases. The problem is also specific to Internet Explorer and does not happen in Google Chrome.


Error Messages



Server is not responding due to a long running script. No transaction reported in Tracer or Log files.


Steps to Reproduce

  1. Make service case (for ex. "AddressChange") as temporary work object. 
  2. Launch the interaction portal. 
  3. Select AddressChange intent task from AddTask button. 
  4. Click on Cross Icon next to AddressChange in interaction driver.


Root Cause



A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules

There is a problem with JS local variable naming and initialization in the close function of JS pega_cpm_IP_EventManager. JS (pega_cpm_IP_EventManager ) is updated to have different name for local variable and initialized it before the loop as part of the hotfix.

Resolution
