Configuring two MMSC servers in CMD
SA-28582
Summary
In the Production environment, the user has created a new MMSC in the eSetting module of Chordiant Marketing Director. "Test Connectivity" with this new MMSC, makes the software communicate with existing Production MMSC server, not with the new MMSC server.
The user requests support for suggestions to allow the communications through the new MMSC Server.
Also the user wishes to know if multiple MMSCs with different IP addresses can be used concurrently.
Error Messages
Not Applicable
Steps to Reproduce
Create a new MMSC in the eSetting module and Test Connectivity.
Root Cause
“VenvMMSCConnectionURL” parameter in the Vantage.init was pointed to existing production MMSC. Thus, CMD was connecting to existing production MMSC.
Resolution
-“VenvMMSCConnectionURL” was set with the new MMSC's URL which allowed the communication of messages through the new MMS server.
-Regarding the query on concurrent usage of multiple MMSCs with different IP addresses, following explanation was provided:
- Multiple MMSCs can be used in parallel, if MMSC allows the connection by using below default URL format:
for Ericsson: http://[Username]:[Password]@[HostName]: [PortNumber] /vasp/servlet/messagerouter
- If the “VenvMMSCConnectionURL” parameter is not set in Vantage.init file, CMD will form the required URL for HTTP communication in the above mentioned default format using the values (username, password, host name, port) from the MMS centre configuration in eSettings module. Thus, MMS centres with different IP addresses can be used simultaneously.
- If the “VenvMMSCConnectionURL” parameter is set in Vantage.init file, where MMSC recommends URL other than default format (as mentioned above), the value set for the parameter “VenvMMSCConnectionURL” will be used during all HTTP communication with all MMSC communication. Thus, IP address, port number etc., set in eSetting module for MMS centre will not be considered, as the Vantage parameter takes the highest precedence and its value will contain port and IP address which will be used by all MMSC connection at any given point of time. In this scenario, multiple MMSCs with different IP address or URL cannot be used simultaneously.
