Date format value in report displays as string in excel

SA-45243

Summary

In report definition, Date format column value displays as a string value when exported to excel.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a report definition with DateTime column (such as, pxCreateDateTime)
  2. Add custom format date, yyyy-mm-dd in report definition column options
  3. Run the report and export the results to excel
  4. Open excel and filter the above column

Root Cause

The issue is with Pega Export to Excel logic. For DateTime columns, the export logic informs excel to expect a date format with time for all the column values, also when the DateTime column is configured with custom Date format. In such cases, excel fails to parse the data and hence treats those values as string.
