Date is misaligned in Excel

Summary



Results of a report definition are exported to Excel. A date which is less than 12 is considered as text and displayed as the month (in text) and is right aligned. While the date that is greater than 12, is left aligned.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Run the report.
  2. Export to excel. 


Root Cause



A third-party product issue: MS Excel.


Resolution



Perform the following local-change: 
  1. Open the Export_Date or the Export_DateTime control.
  2. Perform a Save As of the HTML property specifying a new Stream Name, custom Ruleset, and Ruleset version.
  3. Enclose the existing code within the below <div> tags:

    <div class="excel-datetime" style="vnd.ms-excel.numberformat:@"> {existing code}</div> 
     
  4. Open the report definition rule.
  5. Add the new custom HTML property in the column Format values for the corresponding DateTime property field.
