Email listener does not process inline images properly in 6.3SP1

Summary



User configured an inbound email with "Ignore All Attachments" and "Save Original Email" set as true in the Email listener rule.
User sends an inbound email with inline images and not as attachments. When previewed, the inbound email(Attachment type is Email): the inline images are not properly rendered. Error boxes are coming up instead. However, it is coming up fine, when opening the attachment (.eml) in outlook


Error Messages



Inline images are not rendered properly , they are rendered as error boxes.


Steps to Reproduce



Send an inbound email with inline images on it.


Root Cause



It is an expected behavior in PRPC6.3 SP1. In Pega 7.1.8 Pega has introduced a new feature called "Embed data for inline images into HTML" in email listener.

Resolution



Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

It is an expected behavior in 6.3 SP1 and not able to backport the changes from Pega 7.1.8 to PRPC 6.3 SP1 as it needs more code changes.
