Error occurs while editing data tables in Excel

SA-62788

Summary

Error occurs while editing data tables in Excel. This occurs on Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Error Messages

Failed Re-attach Server session

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch the data table list.
  2. Open any data table
  3. Click Edit In Excel

Root Cause

TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 have compatibility issues with Windows 7. Hence, Pega macros fail in this setup.
TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 work with Windows 10, however, ActiveX fails.
The Edit in Excel feature works with Windows 10 from Pega 7.2.1 onwards due to the change in the underlying application.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

Modify the below registry value from the below path,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\SSL 2.0\Client

Change the DWORD value to 0 for Disable the Protocol.
