Excel-Export not being opened in IE 11

Summary



User  is running Pega 7.x in Internet Explorer 11 with support hand as Office 2010. 

During running a Out-of-the-box (OOTB) or Custom List View, in the result pop-up, If the user click "Export to Excel" button, a download bar comes to the title bar.

It consists 'Open', 'Save' and 'Save As' option. This 'Save'/'Save As' option download the List View outcome in .csv format into the Local system.

This feature is quite similar with other browsers like 'Chrome', 'Safari' and it works fine.

But if 'Open' button gets clicked, the List View result comes out into the excel file, but without any worksheet being loaded. As a result, blank spreadsheet gets opened to user.

Steps to Reproduce



    1. Create ListView.
    2. Check the "Excel" checkbox which enables the "Excel" button in the result pop-up.
    3. Click "Excel", download bar comes to the title bar of the browser with  'Open', 'Save' and 'Save As' option. 
    4. Click 'Open' button, and see blank spreadsheet gets opened. 
 

Root Cause



The 'Open' option is only available for the users who are using Internet Explorer 11. On clicking of the 'Excel' button, browser downloads a premature spreadsheet.

It's a Microsoft issue.

Install the following update pack for MS Excel:
