External Assignment using DWA throws browser error - 400

Summary



An External Assignment is setup by leveraging the Direct Web Access (DWA) feature. When clicking the link from within the External Assignment a browser exception is seen.

Error Messages



Browser Exception:

Tomcat Log Exception:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid character found in the request target. The valid characters are defined in RFC 7230 and RFC 3986

at org.apache.coyote.http11.InternalAprInputBuffer.parseRequestLine(InternalAprInputBuffer.java:235)



Steps to Reproduce

  1. Configure an External Assignment using the DWA feature.
  2. The user gets the email with a link.
  3. Click on the DWA link and observe an IE 400 error.


Root Cause



A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.
