IllegalArgumentException on running update script to update rule

Summary



IllegalArgumentException while running the update script to update Rules schema from Pega 7.1.7 to Pega 7.4.


Error Messages



[java] Caused by: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid ruleset version
[java] at com.pega.pegarules.deploy.internal.processors.AbstractBaseProcessor.logAndAddErrorMessages(AbstractBaseProcessor.java:222)



Steps to Reproduce



Run update.sh to update from Pega 7.1.7 to Pega 7.4


Root Cause



A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment. The pzRuleSetVersionMajor, pzRuleSetVersionMinor and pzRuleSetVersionPatch columns for the rules tables were not populated since the scripts were not run successfully.


Resolution

Make the following change to the operating environment: 
  1. Run the two Oracle scripts for coming from earlier versions of Pega located in <7.4Media>\ResourceKit\AdditionalUpgradeScripts\61SP2AndEarlier on the Pega 7.1.7 database
  2. Run the upgrade to Pega 7.4
