log messages added when Agent goes down in Production

SA-5546

Summary

A developer is attempting to configure Tivoli Application Management to actively monitor Pega Logfiles.  Purpose: to ensure that Tivoli Alerts are generated in the event that Pega Agent processing should terminate for some reason.

Question: what text in the Pega logfiles should be monitored for to correctly identify a failure in Agent Processing?

Error Messages

No errors are posted in the Pega logfile.  No Error Messages are displayed on screen.  However, an alert (PEGA0010) is generated to indicate that Agent Processing was suspended.

Steps to Reproduce

To reproduce the generation of a PEGA0010 alert, proceed to the SMA, and shutdown any particular Agent.  This results in the PEGA0010 alert being written to the logfile.

Root Cause

Not Applicable.

Resolution

The explanation for this behavior is as follows:

Review Tivoli documentation, and determine if Tivoli supports the use of "Regular Expressions", when defining a string value to search a logfile for in order to determine when to generate Tivoli Alert Messages.

Recommended string values to use in the creation of a Regular Expression:

$CheckForTheseValues = “Agent” & “activity” & “queue number” & “ErrorMsg”
