Notes of one work object is carried to another

SA-8296

Summary

You have a custom button which finishes the current assignment, closes the current work object, and gets the next work object. However, the note data that was typed but not submitted into a note gadget, outside the context of the flow action, gets posted to subsequent work objects.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

1. Enter text into a note gadget outside the context of the current flow action.
2. Click the custom button that finishes the current assignment, closes the current work object, and gets the next work object.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules, where unsubmitted note data is retained on the clipboard for the current thread resulting in this data being accessible if the thread is reused.

Resolution

This issue is resolved by the combination of hotfix item HFix-21087, which allows for proper cleanup of threads before they are used again, and a Local-change to explicitly remove the page "Note" in scenarios where the thread context does not change but the work object context does.
