Parent case not waiting on child case

Summary



A parent case is not waiting at a wait shape for the child case defined as a dependency to finish.


Steps to Reproduce



In the Parent Case
1. A parent case is launched.
2. The 1st step creates a child case.
3. The 2nd step has an assignment then waits for the child case to change to dependency status "Pending" to proceed.

In the Child Case
4. The 1st step has an assignment. Complete the assignment and change the status to "Pending". The case advances to the next stage.
5. The 1st step is an assignment. Complete the assignment and change the status to "Open". This should change stages back to Processing Stage.
6. The case holds at the assignment.

Back in the Parent Case
7.  The 1st step has an assignment. Complete the assignment and change the stage back to "Processing".
8.  The 1st step has an assignment. Complete the assignment, but the case doesn't wait on child case status. It continues directly to Review Stage.


Root Cause



The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules. 

Resolution



This issue is scheduled to be resolved in update release Pega 7.1.8.
