Parse XML maps optional element with no value to clipboard page

Summary



User is on Pega 7.1.7 and reported that Parse XML creates pxobjclass entry in clipboard page for optional elements that do not have a value set in the incoming response message. This mapping problem is causing the Connect-SOAP to fail.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Import the WSDL file.
  2. Run the activity calling the Connect-SOAP rule.
  3. The response message is parsed and entries for the elements are created in the clipboard page. However, the clipboard page also contains pxobjclass entries for optional elements that doesn't have any corresponding value set in the incoming response message.


Root Cause



A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules is identified as the root cause of this issue.

Resolution



Perform the following local-change: 
  1. Configure the Dynamic System Settings entry named "SwitchToOldAssembler" to true as shown below:
    Owning Ruleset: Pega-IntegrationEngine
    Purpose: SwitchToOldAssembler
    Value: true
  2. Restart the Application server.
