Pega Marketing Configuration Fails on the Marketing portal

SA-72233

Summary

Post updating Pega Marketing (PM) 7.22 to PM 8.1 (through an interim update to PM 7.4), the PM Configuration menu fails.

Error Messages

Error in the log:

Failed to find a 'RULE-NAVIGATION' with the name 'MKTINTEGRATIONMAINMENU' that applies to 'Data-Portal-Marketing-Studio'. There were 6 rules with this name in the rulebase, but none matched this request. The 6 rules named 'MKTINTEGRATIONMAINMENU' defined in the rulebase are:

3 related to applies-to class 'Data-Portal-Marketing-Studio', but were defined in rulesets which are not in your rulesetlist: {PegaMKT-Portal:07-31-01, PegaMKT-Portal:07-21-01, PegaMKT-Portal:07-22-03}.
2 unrelated to applies-to class 'Data-Portal-Marketing-Studio', for example: 'Pega-Landing'.
1 inaccessible because their availability was 'Withdrawn'.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Switch to Pega Marketing portal.
  2. Click the Configuration menu icon.

Root Cause

The Pega out-of-the-box Configuration navigation rule referenced the MKTIntegrationMainMenu Navigation rule in PM 7.22. This reference is removed in higher versions of PM. The Configuration menu rule is customized in the application ruleset. Thus, despite upgrading to PM 8.1, the old reference is used.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

Discard the customization and switch to the out-of-the-box PM 8.1 rule.
