Pega Search in development portal is not working as expected



Pega Search is not working as expected. 
It's happening in all the environments since the upgrade from 6.1 SP2 to 6.3 SP1.
The System Indexers and pulse are running fine.


The rule index size was less than 100 MB, the data and work index sizes were less than 10<MB

Root Cause

The indexes were not built properly. At some point there were locking issues on the file system due to the system being halted during indexing or some other transient issue, 
ERROR   - Failed to update ClipboardPages in the PegaRULES index - Lock obtain timed out: [email protected]/yyyy/webapps/xxxx/PegaRULESIndex/WorkIndex/write.lock


Confirm the settings for the HostName, HostID, and Soap URL are correct.
Examine the index directory and observe it to be free of old write.lock files and complete the reindex.
Search will now work as expected from all nodes.
