PRPC truncates string ending in spaces

SA-8189

Summary

When passing a String in as the payload to an HTTP service that ends in a series of space characters, PRPC trims that data down to the substring that excludes the trailing spaces. This happens when attempting to validate and parse fixed-width files where the specification stipulates that they are right padded with spaces to fill any unused content area.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

Pass in a string to a HTTP service that ends in a string of spaces and in the service activity, perform an @length on that string. It should come back with the length of the string minus the number of spaces that are padding the right.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules. BUG-197122 is raised to fix the issue.

Resolution

To test the Service HTTP - use HTTP client application or other tools such as Fiddler or Browser.
