PSRS transaction is highly resource intensive

SA-7505

Summary

What is the CICS transaction named "PSRS"? It started at system start-up and is highly resource intensive slowing down the system. Killing the transaction to improve throughput worked, however this causes the system to fail.

Error Messages

PSUP         73 01:01:07.682 ZCXINIT PEGASYS -- DATABASE FILES ARE NOT AVAILABLE.

Steps to Reproduce

Start CICS region while batch overnight is running.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is defect/misconfiguration in the PRPC operating environment. The CICS region was started before the overnight batch jobs had release files used by CICS but held for write.

Resolution

The PSRS transaction is the Result Async that returns queries from the Index check and Search text archive databases.  The issue was cleared with a restart of the CICS region.
