Answers :-

1. How to increase re-indexing speed?

A.1.No option in 6.1 sp2. Available in 7.1.7 with ElasticSearch

2. How to determine approximate duration of re-indexing process?

A.2.An approximation can be made using the cumulative size of BLOB. Rules takes about 45 mins for an OOTB Pega 6.1 SP2 instance.

3. How to calculate space for indexes?

A.3.An approximation can be made using the cumulative size of BLOB. Rules is around 600 to 700 MB for an OOTB Pega 6.1 SP2 instance. This is reduced from 6.3 onwards where Lucene has been upgraded to 3.5. It is further reduced in 7.1.7 with the introduction of ElasticSearch.

4. How to calculate approximate amount of work objects?

A.4.This is already shown on the search landing page during indexing. You can do a count(*) on all the work tables involved for all classes derived from Work
