Question as to possible file restrictions during upload

Summary
Testers are not able to upload .exe files types during upload testing.
Where are restrictions configured in the application to restrict .exe files?

Invalid Attachment of EXE file. Please upload valid Attachment
Steps to Reproduce
Try to upload and attach an file with an .exe extension.
Root Cause
The application has been customized to include a check of the file extensions for file attachments and to disallow exe files.
Resolution
A tracer needs to be run to see where the error is being produced.
Once that is known, the application can be analyzed to see the exact custom technique used to validate file extensions.
