Required field shows error before user is able to fill in

SA-9750

Summary

When tabbing or clicking to the next field after the previous field is designated as Display value using read only formatting, the field tabbed or clicked shows error message that the field cannot be blank. This issue is only happening in IE 11.

Error Messages

Value cannot be blank

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a section with two required fields. One is DateTime. The other is TextArea. For the DateTime property, check “Display value using read-only formatting” under Presentation tab.
  2. Create a flow action and flow to run it. In the run time, first select a date and then press tab key. You will notice that the mouse cursor moves to the text area. But the validation error comes up immediately. This is not the right behavior. User has not entered anything yet. The validation error should not show up now.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules.

Resolution

This issue is resolved through the following local change:
Add one action set on change on date time Field and change the focus of date time field to some other field (no mandatory field) and set the focus again to date time field again.
