Scroll bar is not appearing in the Report editor
SA-23648
Summary
User created a report using report editor from the Case Manager portal.
Issue:
When user opens this report it does not have the horizontal scroll bar and all columns are compressed with values shown in "abc..." format.
User expects a horizontal scroll bar to be displayed when the number of columns are more and values to be fully visible.
Error Messages
Not Applicable.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Open Case Manager portal and create a report in report editor with more than 10-15 columns.
2. Save the report and run the report .
3. Observe that it does not have horizontal scroll bar and columns are getting shrinked to fit in current window due to which cell values are not visible fully , rather coming as xxx...(value with ellipsis).
Root Cause
A software use or operation error :
Till Pega 7.1.7, it works as expected ,as with Pega 7.1.7 version, PRPC is using custom sections(20) to display the Report Viewer based on the configurations.
So once number of columns increase, it will adjust the columns in the available screen width.
Resolution
Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:
From Pega 7.1.8 onwards Pega implemented Virtual grid to render the Report Viewer, so if number of columns are more in Report Definition, grid automatically displays horizontal scroll bar in Report Viewer. But here Grid will automatically set the width to new column resulting in scroll if total width for all columns exceeds screen width.
It is not possible to back port the changes into Pega 7.1.6. So user must upgrade to Pega 7.1.8 to get desired behavior.
