Sort does not work on PegaList with subpages

Summary
Developers had built a Report Definition that was designed to bring back properties from the main class and also a joined class.
They had subsequently built a Repeat Grid based on that Report Definition, and had enabled sorting on the Repeat Grid.
At run-time when they performed a sort on one of the properties from the main class then the Repeat Grid was sorting correctly.
However, if they attempted to perform a sort on one of the properties from the joined class then the user was presented with the error below, and the browser would appear to hang.

Root Cause
The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules.
Resolution
This issue is resolved by hotfix item HFix-10312
