Special characters in Operator ID

SA-16276

Summary

Error when trying to create an operator ID with a '-' (hyphen).

Error Messages

User Id:
In addition to letters and digits, the identifier can include the following characters: period, single quote, tilde, underscore, exclamation point, ampersand, octothorpe and no more than one @ character. Don't use forward slash or backslash characters in the identifier.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a new operator
2. Type an operator ID with a '-'
3. Click 'Create and open'

Root Cause

Pega 7 has a restriction that operator IDs cannot contain a hyphen ("-") character.

Resolution

A local-change that can avoid this issue is to use an authentication activity that translates hyphens "-" in the AD logon credentials provided by a user in to an allowed character such as an underscore "_" to arrive at the Pega Operator ID.
