System does not present log files

Summary



PegaRULES log files are not written after installation. Hence, unable to access the log files from the Dev Studio and a System.out error occurs indicating a FileNotFoundException for the location where the log files are written.


Error Messages



Error 500: Array index out of range: 0


Steps to Reproduce



Access the log files.


Root Cause



Pega does not have file permissions to write logs to this location.


Resolution



Configure the Pega logs to write to a different directory {sys:pega.logdir} or provide the logs access to write in the directory that they are currently configured to be written to. Use the below JVM argument to control the Pega log directory:

-Dpega.logdir=/chosen/file/path

Note: A subfolder of the Pega user's Home directory is recommended.
