Unable attach with more than 25 MB file size

Summary



User is unable to attach more than 25 MB file to work object in their Pega environment.

On the UI side they are getting SOAP Service Failed Error message. If user uploads a file that is less than 25MB, it gets attached.

This application is configured to store attachments outside Pega in a content management application; that is another service which stores attachments based on caseID,Document ID and so on.

Even that target service didn't get any request from Pega if uploaded more than 25 MB file.

Steps to Reproduce



Try to attach a file more than 25 MB.


Root Cause



A defect or configuration issue in the operating environment:

As per the SOAP response, there is a 404 response code returned by the 'content management application'.


Resolution



Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

Content management application does not accept SOAP message with more than 25 MB as inline content. Recommended approach is to send the file via attachment using MTOM.
