Unable to run system scanner, getting a Socket Connection error

Summary



A developer is unable to run the system scanner to generate a list of hotfixes in the system. A Socket Connection error is experienced.

A Socket Connection error has been encountered


Steps to Reproduce



Attempt to run the system scanner.

Root Cause



The root cause of this problem is defect/misconfiguration in the PRPC operating environment. FTP is being blocked by a security policy.


Resolution



The explanation for this behavior is as follows:


FTP is being blocked by a security policy.

Instead, try downloading the latest catalog file from the PDN directly at the following URL:
https://pdn.pega.com/support/prpc-update-manager

Please note that out of the box in PRPC 6.1 SP2 there is an issue where Update Manager requires that the .ZIP extension of the catalog file be in all capitals. HFix-3787 address this.
