Can remove the database credentials from the pegarules.xml file (WebSphere and JDBC datasource)

Updated on August 28, 2019

Question

A developer asks:

When defining WebSphere datasources, it looks like the V4.2 installation adds the user name and password into the pegarules.xml file.

Is there a way to prevent that other than encrypting?

Response

You are not required to include the user name and password in the pegarules.xml file when you've defined a datasource.

You can remove the defaulted values during the setup, or you can remove the values from the pegarules.xml file afterward.
