2021 was an exciting one for all of us at Pega as we became a Worldwide Supplier of the Ryder Cup – golf’s premier international tournament – and welcomed Marc Leishman (PGA Tour) and Mel Reid (LPGA Tour) to our team as Brand Ambassadors.
We’re excited to be finishing the year by announcing the winners of our inaugural Pega Golf Challenge, a unique competition where individuals and teams from around the world had the opportunity to propose ideas for how Pega technologies can be used to improve the sport of golf.
Let’s meet our winners!
- Diversity and Inclusion in Golf - Golf for Everyone - This submission from a Senior Associate at Morgan Stanley proposed a Pega solution that calculates DEI scores of golfers and employees/staff at golf courses/clubs so that golf course owners and managers can create new opportunities for more diverse and inclusive courses and golf clubs.
- Sustainability in Golf - GreenGolf - This submission from a two-person team at Eclatprime proposes a robust, adaptive and scalable Pega digital solution that would monitor and control water usage to help make golf courses and their local ecological environments more sustainable.
- Fan Experience in Golf - Golf in a Snap - This submission from a five-person team at Capgemini proposes the creation of a Pega application that would allow fans to view upcoming schedules of golf tournaments around the world and book their tournament tickets, merchandise, transportation and lodging in a unified mobile experience. There would also be opportunities for in-app wagering in countries/states where sports gambling is legal.
- Broadcast Experience in Golf - Next Gen Broadcasting - This submission from a developer at Verizon proposes a Pega solution that allows fans to ask questions of professional golfers during tournaments that the players can respond to in real-time. Questions and answers are displayed on a viewer’s television screen.
“I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to review these Pega Golf Challenge submissions and was very impressed by the level of detail that each of these winners demonstrated in how Pega technologies might be utilized to take the sport of golf forward from both a social impact and fan engagement standpoint,” said Ralph Booth, Pega Express Director.
Stay tuned for more blog posts as Ralph and his Pega Express colleagues help these winning individuals/teams through the process of going from idea to MLP over a six-week period as part of Pega Express Month in January 2022.
