Post-Webinar Q&A: Q2 Pega As-a-Service Release & Roadmap
Thank you to everyone who joined our Q2 Pega As-a-Service Release & Roadmap webinar! The interactive session generated fantastic questions that showcase the depth of interest in our latest capabilities. Here are the key questions and answers from our expert panel discussion with Satya Mishra, Senior Director of Product Management.
Regional Expansion and Global Reach
Q: When do we plan to expand our region coverage to the Middle East, specifically Saudi Arabia?
A: We can support new regions within 2 weeks to a month when there's a specific sales opportunity. The key requirement is understanding the support model - if you review our deployment regions documentation at pega.com/cloud, you'll see our current support framework. For regions requiring in-country support staff (like UAE), the timeline extends as we establish local presence. We encourage early engagement in sales discussions to ensure adequate lead time for regional certification.
Enhanced Disaster Recovery Deep Dive
Q: Do we support transit gateways for multi-region disaster recovery, and how is routing handled?
A: Enhanced disaster recovery requires pre-established connectivity to both primary and secondary regions. While transit gateways aren't directly supported, we do support private link and direct connect configurations. The pre-setup approach ensures that during failover initiation, we don't need to coordinate with IT departments for network connectivity verification - the workload simply fails over with DNS switching to redirect responses from the backup region.
Q: What happens during a region-level failover? Do clients need to update anything, or does it work seamlessly?
A: The process is completely seamless from the client perspective - if there were client-side steps required, we wouldn't be able to effectively sell this feature! When we detect a regional disaster, we inform clients of our intention to switch to secondary region. Upon client confirmation and approval, we initiate the failover process with an RTO of less than 2 hours and RPO of less than 15 minutes. Once completed, clients can resume processing from the secondary region without any configuration changes.
Deployment Manager Innovations
Q: For the upcoming data movement feature from production to non-production with masking, do we have documentation on configuration steps?
A: This feature is currently in development for Q4 release. The interface will allow users to log into Deployment Manager, select specific case types for data movement, and choose masking patterns. For example, SSN numbers would be replaced with XXX-XX-XXXX patterns. Users will have full control over case type selection and data masking configurations, with region-level data controls available as user-selectable options.
Q: How do global deployment pipelines support customizations like integration with change management systems such as ServiceNow?
A: Many Customers have already implemented that using Custom Tasks.
Platform Architecture and Alternatives
Q: Since database views aren't supported in Pega Cloud, what workarounds exist for complex view features?
A: This strategic decision prioritizes maintenance efficiency and platform stability. Alternatives include leveraging data pages and Pega Constellation for complex data operations, utilizing Pega Insights for analytics needs, or implementing dedicated BI solutions. For more complex requirements, we recommend extracting data to separate BI solutions using supported integration patterns, which provides greater flexibility and scalability for analytical workloads.
Artificial Intelligence Strategy
Q: What is Pega's strategic roadmap for AI capabilities, and will they be limited to Pega as-a-Service?
A: Generative AI sits at the center of our product development philosophy. Every epic now includes acceptance criteria for Gen AI feature utilization. We offer comprehensive AI tools from Gen AI Coach to automated analysis capabilities. Our internal Global Operations Center, built on Pega platform, uses Gen AI for deployment acceleration, upgrade management, and troubleshooting diagnosis.
For on-premises clients, we provide the PremBridge to connect to Gen AI services, though we strongly encourage migration to Pega Cloud for full AI advantage access. Regarding bring-your-own-model capabilities, we're evaluating support options while currently offering powerful vendor models across multiple providers.

Q: Do we have plans to integrate in-house Gen AI models for clients?
A: We're currently assessing bring-your-own-model support capabilities. Our existing vendor partnerships provide access to powerful models across multiple providers, which we highly recommend utilizing. We'll provide updates on custom model integration as our evaluation progresses.
Security and Zero-Trust Architecture
Q: What security policies do we support, particularly around zero-trust architecture?
A: Security remains paramount in our as-a-Service approach. We recommend reviewing pega.com/trust for comprehensive security details, including encryption standards, network protection, and access controls. All Pega Cloud deployments undergo rigorous auditing processes, evidenced by our 20+ compliance attestations ranging from ISO to PCI to SOC2 Type II.
For applications serving as systems of record, we provide a comprehensive security checklist in our documentation. This checklist emphasizes the critical importance of designating security responsibility within organizations, as security requires ongoing attention throughout the application lifecycle, not just initial setup.

Q: How does Deployment Manager integrate with Rule Security Analyzer?
A: Deployment Manager now features Rule Security Analyzer integration, enabling security validation before production deployments. This ensures that application promotions pass security checks as part of the automated deployment pipeline, embedding security validation directly into the development workflow.
Network Capabilities and Self-Service Evolution
Q: What self-service networking capabilities are coming to My Pega Cloud?
A: Our roadmap includes comprehensive self-service networking features to eliminate support ticket dependencies. Planned capabilities include configuration recommendations, custom domain setup (vanity URLs), private link configuration, and advanced networking with granular system segmentation. While these configurations are possible today through support requests, our goal is making them available as self-service options, aligning with our as-a-Service philosophy.

Platform Evolution and Documentation
Q: Do we have documentation comparing Deployment Manager 6 (as-a-Service only) with Deployment Manager 5 (on-premises)?
A: This is excellent feedback for a needed documentation enhancement. At a high level, Deployment Manager 6 represents the future with all latest features including global deployments, canary deployments, RSA integration, and comprehensive DevOps integration. We'll work on producing a detailed comparison document to clarify the differences and migration benefits.
Terminology Clarification
Q: Why do we use "Pega as-a-Service" and "Pega Cloud" interchangeably?
A: This reflects our strategic mindset shift toward being a cloud-first company where features debut on Pega Cloud first. However, "as-a-Service" represents a deeper philosophical change - we center every feature decision around client experience, asking whether clients need to invest significant effort, time, or resources to achieve their goals. The as-a-Service approach means we handle administrative work, infrastructure management, monitoring, compliance, and security, allowing clients to focus exclusively on application development and business problem-solving.
