Accessibility: When to use live announcements for a screen reader user

Some applications require simultaneous notifications such as alerts, chat messaging, emails etc.  Using dynamic announcements can be helpful to notify the screen reader users of these alerts..  However,  such simultaneous dynamic announcements can also be overwhelming as well and hard to decipher which is most important and what they relate to.
