Overview
In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, organizations face the critical challenge of effectively aligning their business architecture with their overarching business strategy. Business architecture serves as the blueprint for an organization's structure, processes, systems, and capabilities, while business strategy outlines the long-term goals, competitive positioning, and direction of the company. The alignment of these two crucial components is essential for achieving organizational success, innovation, and sustainable growth.
In the session we are going to find answers of questions like what business architecture is? and how as a Pega Business Architect, I can contribute in aligning the Business Architecture with the Business Strategy.
Questions
The following questions were asked and answered during the call:
"Is this a new framework being proposed, we already have Pega express methodology for delivery, do we also need to follow this for Business architecture?"
These are steps BAs can follow throughout Pega express phases to make sure the outcome of each phase aligns to overall business strategy. These steps are complementary to Pega express delivery not a parallel framework.
"Why is strategic alignment of project delivery important for a business?"
Strategic alignment of project delivery aligns the organization's operational efforts with its overarching vision, enabling it to navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and achieve sustained success. It ensures that project investments are made with a strategic mindset, leading to better outcomes and a stronger competitive position in the marketplace.
"Is situational layer cake not applicable anymore?"
It is applicable, modular reuse automatically takes care of layer cake implementation and makes it even better suited for reuse.
"How is module reuse architecture different from Center out business architecture?"
Both are one and the same, both focus on leveraging business architecture to achieve customer outcome. Modular reuse approach delves deep into how to make use of center out approach more effectively in real time project implementation using constellation
The following questions were answered via Q&A directly
“Don't get me wrong, as an Enterprise Architect myself coming from System design background, I have never seen Pega BA's doing alignment of enterprise strategy to the work packages ( business capabilities) that they want to achieve with Pega. All the BA's do is to create US's (not really knowing what Pega provides as well). I'm really happy that Pega has arranged such a webinar to convey what they should actually be doing.”
Hi, without knowing specifics I believe that what you may be highlighting is the difference between a BA (Business Analyst) and a BA (Pega Business Architect) which we have covered on another webinar https://community.pega.com/event/what-pega-business-architect
“Is there any template for governance report available on Pega website/PSR template as well?”
Hi, I would recommend checking out the Pega Express Toolkit available on our community site, where you should the find a PSR document at least.

“How is the Business Analyst different from Business Architect?”
Great question, we have a great Blog on our community site which may help with that answer https://community.pega.com/blog/whats-difference-between-business-analyst-and-pega-business-architect
“Can you help how constellation can be pitched in consultation role for Business Architects?”
There is a planned event for tomorrow to highlight some of the important features of constellation and Infinity '23 https://community.pega.com/event/whats-new-constellation-23
I would recommend attending that event, we will be looking to produce a more BA focused one in the future
