Session Management issue in Pega 7
SA-15237
Summary
The requirement is to work simultaneously in IE for two different windows (open two different work objects) with same user without opening a new session window from IE.
Error Messages
Not Applicable
Steps to Reproduce
1. Open PRPC application.
2. Open Work Item.
3. Open New Window.
4. Perform operations on the work item in the first window.
5. Keep switching between windows after every action.
Root Cause
PRPC does not allow two browser windows to connect to the same PRPC requestor. In PRPC 6 and earlier versions of PRPC, a multiple window warning message displays. In Pega 7, the multiple window warning message is removed but the windows are kept synchronized. When you launch a new window or new tab, the UI is placed in to the same state as the first window. When you work within the second window and then switch back to the first window, the first window is refreshed to also reflect the requestor state. In Pega 7, you can have two PRPC windows connected to the requestor, however, you still cannot work on separate cases or be in separate screens. The UI will always adjust to the current state of the requestor.
Resolution
If you need to use have two separate PRPC windows containing separate states, use separate browser processes.
In IE, this is accomplished by using File > New Session.
Authentication will need to take place again.
