Declare Index rule is not executed in specific scenario

Summary



A Declare Index for notes is not fired when the work object is created via an Agent.

Even if a user manually adds a note to the work object created by the agent, the Declare Index does not fire.

If the work object is created manually by a user, then the Declare Index is executed.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a work object via an agent.
  2. Add notes to the work object.


Root Cause



An issue in the custom application code or rules.

Enabled debug logging on the com.pega.pegarules.data.internal.access.Indexer class and the log message showed one of the source properties was blank.
WARN - Not indexing ORG-WORK W-1 due to a blank property (top.pyOrigUserWorkgroup ), which is disallowed by RULE-DECLARE-INDEX ORG-WORK NOTESINDEX #20150324T073319.875 GMT

Resolution



Perform the following local-change:

Check the "Index even if source class property is blank" option on the Declare Index rule if index entries should be created when a source property is blank.
