HTMLToPDF font size becomes smaller in the generated PDF

SA-30078

Summary

While generating a PDF using the Out-of-the-box (OOTB) HTMLToPDF activity, the font size or pixel size is smaller in the PDF when compared with the HTML.

Error Messages

Not applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a user interface with data in different layouts, such as smart layout, grid layout, or row repeat layout.
  2. Convert the section to HTML.
  3. Use the out of the box HTMLToPDF activity to convert the HTML file to PDF.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules. The PDF output could end up using a smaller font based upon the amount of text in a field.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

Specify a larger font for PDF generation so it compensates for the shrinkage, producing a normal-sized output.

Although this has been hot fixed in the Pega 7 series, the PRPC 6 series architecture is significantly different so it would not just be a port of the Pega 7 hotfix.

There would be significant risks in a PRPC 6 series hotfix.
