Page-Set-Message errors are not displayed to user

SA-21890

Summary

Page-Set-Message rules do not display an error message to the user with Pega 7.1.8.

Error Messages

No error message is displayed to the user when it is intended to.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a section with a text input field and a button.
  2. On click of the button, run an activity.
  3. In the activity, simply put a Page-Set-Message that only has a message of type Error.

Root Cause

Messages set on the page thru Page-Set-Messages method inside an activity called via the run activity on click event will not be displayed. To display messages there must be a back and forth server interaction, such as refresh sections.

Resolution

Apply the HFix-25048 first, and then replace the Run Activity button Click event with a refresh section action for the button Click event. Inside the refresh section call the activity.
