PegaRULES initialization failed using Oracle 12C on PRPC 5.5

Summary



After a database upgrade to Oracle 12C, an error is thrown: ERROR - PegaRULES initialization failed. Server: unknown
 

Error Messages



java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Could not determine Oracle version from product name 'Oracle Database 12c Enterprise Edition Release 12.1.0.2.0 - 64bit Production.


Steps to Reproduce

  1. Upgrade database to Oracle 12C.
  2. Start PRPC 5.5 system. 


Root Cause



Oracle 12C is not supported on PRPC 5.5.

Resolution



Update to the latest version of Pega, or revert to a supported version of Oracle application server.
