Saving flows takes several minutes

Summary
When you hit save on a large flow it takes several minutes for the flow to save.

Steps to Reproduce
Save a flow rule that has a fairly large number of shapes.
Root Cause
The root cause of this problem is in a third-party product integrated with PRPC. With IE8 there are known very severe performance issues. Pega's recommendation is to either move to a higher version of IE, or to a different browser, like Chrome.
Resolution
Move to a different browser or browser version.
