Meet Mercedesz

Let’s start off by learning a bit more about your life prior to Pega. Where are you from originally and what is your educational background?
I’m originally from Hungary but I spent a lot of time abroad. I conducted my studies at Jönköping University (Sweden) and the University of California - Davis (USA)  where my focus was on new business development. I was always aspiring for an international career where I could take on value-adding work.

What motivated you to learn how to use Pega?
During my traineeship period, I got very frustrated with the way enterprises work: processes were not clear, information was stored in different places and the whole world turned upside down when you had a task that was an exception to the rule. I wanted to do something that would simplify the way work is done and make sure that the relevant information is always available, but it was impossible for a junior like myself to initiate such a big project.

When I joined Saltech, I realized that Pega’s vision is not so different from my personal vision, so I decided to dig deeper into the technology.

How has Pega shaped or impacted your career?
Getting to know Pega made me understand how I should rewire my way of thinking to solve problems, not symptoms. I started to translate problems into processes, asking more questions from end-users and keeping outcomes at the heart of whatever I did. Getting my certification was a sort of validation in that process. Understanding the technology is essential, even as a business professional, and being certified gives you more credibility and confidence.

How is Pega changing the organization where you work?
As a partner company, Saltech is supporting Pega clients in realizing their digital transformation visions. Being part of this movement provides us with new challenges on a day-to-day basis and encourages us to always strive for becoming more empathetic to our customers so that we can raise the bar for ourselves.

What message or advice would you give to anyone who is considering a career as a Pega Developer?
Every new project will bring a new challenge and the technology will keep evolving, so make sure you are ready to move along. Be open to understanding your customers and willing to step in their shoes to deliver the solutions they really need - and maybe don’t even know yet.
