Let’s start off by learning a bit more about your life prior to Pega. Where are you from originally and what is your educational background?
I am originally from India and did my Masters in Computer Applications (MCA). I have lived in the UK since 2003. I was a .Net, C++, Java programmer in my early years before I received the opportunity to work at O2 (now Telefonica). That was my first decisioning project in Chordiant (first implementation in the UK) and there has been no turning back since then. I have worked in a variety of decisioning/ CRM tools like Chordiant, Predictive Intent, Infor Epiphany and now Pega since it acquired Chordiant in 2010.

What motivated you to learn how to use Pega?
It was a natural transition from Chordiant to Pega. While the decisioning and marketing concepts were the same, it was a different tool with many core Pega concepts to grasp. In the 19+ years of my career, 14+ years have been dedicated to Decisioning and Pega implementations spanning over two dozen projects/clients across the globe. I have worked in various capacities in Pega. i.e. Business Architect, Decisioning Architect, Marketing Consultant, Delivery Lead and Practice Manager.

How has Pega shaped or impacted your career?
Working as a Pega practitioner made me realize my strengths as a Business Architect. I’m someone who can understand technical aspects as well as rely the message to the business and senior stakeholders. This was partially due to the fact that I have been in a fast-paced consultancy environment in customer-facing roles.

I am very happy with my career path and enjoy being a trusted advisor of our clients. I am the owner and co-founder of Axioms Consulting, a Boutique company offering niche Pega services to clients all over the world. Collectively we have Pega experience of over 25 years.

What message or advice would you give to anyone who is considering a career as a Pega Developer?
Whether you are technical, business-minded, sales or marketing, Pega has various paths that will help you choose the direction of your career.  While you are going through the certification process, make sure that you get involved in actual project implementations. Client interactions and on-the-job training are priceless.
