Autocomplete overlay detaches as user scrolls in a modal

SA-29816

Summary

A user clicks on a link on the application screen to bring up a modal dialog which has a vertical scrollbar.

There is an autocomplete field in the modal dialog.

When the user hits the down arrow, results are displayed in an overlay. At this time, if the user scrolls down using the modal scrollbar, the autocomplete overlay gets disconnected from the autocomplete field.

In the Autocomplete field, the up/down arrow goes missing, so it does not look like an autocomplete anymore. Sporadically, when you move the mouse, the modal dialog also begins to move along with the mouse. This is not expected behavior.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Click on the hyperlink on the application screen to bring up the modal dialog window.
2. Place focus in the autocomplete field (below) and press the down arrow to bring up the overlay.

3. Scroll the modal dialog scrollbar to see the overlay results get detached from the autocomplete field.

Root Cause

The Pega application has been setup in Internet Explorer browser to run in 'Compatibility View'.

Resolution

Ensure the below steps are implemented to resolve the issue:
1. Apply HFix-27673
2. Ensure that 'ALL' harnesses in your application, have the Internet Explorer document mode set to 'IE=Edge' on the Advanced tab.

When user adds IE=Edge, it makes the PRPC application run in the Standards mode even though the website is actually configured to run in Compatibility View at the browser level. Pega 7 UI and controls have been revised to render/function in the Standards mode, this is not just limited to Autocomplete. We expect customers to run Pega 7 applications in Standards mode not in Compatibility View/Quirks mode any more.
