File encoding is inconsistent for BIX XML extracts

SA-107415

Summary

File encoding is inconsistent for Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX) XML extracts. Some files are converted to ASCII, while some have the UTF-8 Unicode.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Configure a BIX extract to produce XML.
  2. Enter values in the case with special characters.
  3. Extract the case fields in the configured BIX extract.
  4. Execute the extract.

Root Cause

The encoding set for the file is decided according to the characters (special characters or alphabets) in the file. Files with special characters are encoded as UTF-8.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

Define the following tag in prconfig.xml of the BIX node,

<env name="initialization/pxtextextractencoding" value="ASCII"/>
