ORA-12899 error during SMS output

External table is used to deliver SMS messages to SMS server. The requirement is to send SMS messages with more than 160 characters, hence, the target table column length is increased to 500.
However, campaigns still fail with ORA-12899 error.

Error Messages

Steps to Reproduce

1. Increase the target table column length to 500
2. Add two 200 characters long Text fields to output

Root Cause

SMS campaigns uses an output table for SMSC. SMSC then pulls the data from the table and sends the SMS messages. Root cause was the output table, as SMS text column was set to 320, not 500.
