Progressive increase in size of AES 7.1.7 MS SQL Server Schema

SA-21862

Summary

The size of the MS SQL Server Autonomic Event Services (AES) 7.1.7 data schema keeps growing.
Monitored system settings in AES have the following values for Retention Days:
  • 14 days for alerts and exceptions,
  • 30 days for statistics

AES Cleanup Data agent is scheduled to run every hour and is executed correctly.
Nonetheless the AES database contains alerts and exceptions that are older than the expected 14 days.

Error Messages

No error messages.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install AES 7.1.7 on Pega 7.1.8 with a MS SQL Server database.
  2. Add Monitored Nodes.
  3. Wait for the period specified in Cluster Settings (Retention Days).
  4. Observe that older logs are partially removed.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules:
The PegaAES- purgeOldData activity invoked by the “Cleanup AES Data” Agent is limiting the amount of rows deleted to 51 with MS SQL Server database.
This affects the ability to Cleanup old items on MS SQL Server.

Resolution

Apply HFix-26939.
