Report unable to sort by integer sourced by declare expression

SA-64825

Summary

In a report definition, sort (ascending or descending) on an integer property does not work. Calculation of this integer property value is performed using a declare expression.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a property that is an integer.
  2. Calculate this property using a declare expression.
  3. Create a report definition Sort by this property.
  4. Display report definition in a section.

Root Cause

A report definition provided with a property attempts to find the column in the database that holds the property to execute it in SQL (not in Java). The report definition cannot directly filter records based on the expression defined in the PRPC layer.

Resolution

Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

Sorting by a declare expression is not supported due to how report definitions are executed.
